Chep Lap Kok, the biggest and busiest airport in China, was built on a man-made island, 10km from Hong Kong.
NSS designed a tied-arch, tracked aluminium access system for the installation of the soffitt lining, lighting and other facilities.
Spanning 37 metres, this innovative system was capable of a 3
tonne
distributed work load. Using a sloping track, it followed the contour of the roof line, climbing and descending by 12m over the 1.5km long concourse.
BCJ, the main contractor, said that without the NSS system, the work at the airport could not have been completed in time for the official opening. |
